Disney Cruise Line Tightens Door Decor, Alcohol, and Camera Gear Rules Starting June 3

Disney Cruise Line updated alcohol, door-decoration, and camera-gear policies May 28, 2026 — effective for sailings from June 3 — with one carry-on wine bottle, hallway decor limits, and 18-inch selfie-stick rules.

What changed and when

Disney Cruise Line refreshed several guest policies on its website May 28, 2026. The updates are not a single ship experiment — they apply fleet-wide to sailings departing on or after June 3, 2026, with each ship switching over on its first departure on or after that date.

Sail before June 3 under the old rules; sail June 3 or later with the new alcohol, decor, and camera limits. Guests already at sea when their ship switches keep prior rules for that voyage; changes apply on your next sailing.

Alcohol and corkage: old vs new

At embarkation, guests 21 and older may bring one unopened 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne or six 12-ounce beers in carry-on luggage — not checked bags. That is a cut from the prior allowance of two wine bottles at check-in, according to trade reports on Disney's FAQ update.

Wine or beer you buy in port will be held by the ship until disembarkation, same general idea as before but worth repeating if you shop in Nassau or Cozumel. One bright spot: the corkage fee drops from $29 to $20 per bottle when you bring your own wine to the main dining rooms — a small offset if you were planning to BYO for formal night.

Ship bars and packages are unchanged — plan around one embarkation bottle instead of two.

Door decor and fish extenders

Hallway culture matters on Disney ships, and the line drew a clearer line: decorations belong on your stateroom door onlynot corridor walls, ceilings, or shared hallway surfaces. Fish extenders remain allowed, so gift-exchange groups can keep their traditions if everything hangs from the door frame or approved door hardware.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy use wooden doors where magnets do not stick, trade sources note — plan command hooks, over-door hangers, or other gear that does not rely on magnets. Damage from prohibited adhesives can trigger a $100 fee per incident, so skip the duct tape and test-friendly hooks you can remove cleanly.

Sketch your layout against the door-only rule before you print magnet sets.

Camera gear and prohibited items

Selfie sticks, extension poles, and tripods may be used onboard only when folded to 18 inches or less. Longer gear stays in your stateroom until you go ashore — think Castaway Cay beach day, not crowded pool deck extension poles.

Measure your collapsed tripod before you pack — use a pocketable grip onboard and save full-size gear for port days.

Which ships first — June 3 rollout

Disney rolls the policies in ship by ship, not all at once on the calendar date. Disney Fantasy is first: a 4-night Bahamas sailing from Port Canaveral on June 3, 2026, per trade coverage. Disney Adventure and Disney Magic follow June 4; Disney Wish on June 5; Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny on June 6; and Disney Dream and Disney Wonder on June 8.

Confirm your ship's first affected departure, not just June 3 on the calendar. For Fort Lauderdale vs Orlando, see our Disney Destiny summer 2026 deployment piece.

What this means for you

Fish-extender families can keep exchanging gifts — just anchor decor to the stateroom door and avoid hallway tape murals. Wine lovers should rebalance: one embarkation bottle, lower corkage at dinner, and no expecting port purchases in your cabin mini-fridge until the cruise ends. Photo-heavy travelers should pack collapsible gear that meets the 18-inch folded rule or plan port-only tripod use.
